The village of Lealholm is nearby, it has a pub, tearoom, shop and walks by the river.
Scaling Dam reservoir is 3 miles from the site and has fishing & water sports available.
The village of Ruswarp is 9 miles from the site which has a miniature railway and rowing boats on the river Esk, there is also a large children's indoor soft play with refreshments available.
